Hello, Writers,
Thank you to everyone who attended the February 26th in-person meeting hosted by Kate Sanger, with Doug Williams as the key speaker (pictured above). It is exciting to resume in-person meetings after such a long hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. We look forward to attendance growing and eventually matching or surpassing the attendance of these meetings before the hiatus.
Please note that the in-person meetings are not just for presenting speakers but also for reviewing BAWL business. We intend to hold BAWL elections for President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary not in March but at the next, meeting, on April 23rd. After zero interest last year, I am thrilled to announce that this year we have a candidate for President: Kate Sanger. Others interested in running for that position or other positions are highly encouraged to attend the March 26th in-person meeting to discuss. As a reminder, only active BAWL members can vote for officers.
The speaker for the March meeting is Ky Adams. Adams has been teaching for over 20 years and writing since she was eight. She has five published children’s books, ranging from a picture book to an early chapter book. She has kept a “Writer’s Notebook” in different forms for at least 30 years. She will speak about what you can use for a Writer’s Notebook, what to put in them, and how to “mine” from your notebooks. Please bring your own notebooks to share!
Ky is also a BAWL member. You can follow her on her Amazon Author page.
We are also working on making the in-person events available via Zoom. Some people, like myself, live a little too far away to attend in person, but we are very interested in the events nonetheless.
Okay, moving on. This week, our Feature is an article by Kate Sanger, titled "Fixing A Writing Slump". Following the article is an introduction by Kate regarding her interest in being BAWL President. Don't miss it!
This is a reminder that the Saturday Afternoon Write-In is tomorrow! Julie Pitzel hosts a write-in on the third Saturday of each month, both online and in person, at Friendswood Library, 416 S. Friendswood Dr., 77546. Julie prefers to communicate via Facebook, and the Facebook link is below.
The vernal equinox is on Mar 20, 2025, at 4:01 am. It will officially be Spring once more, but the trees already have buds, and flowers are everywhere - life springs anew (pun intended).
'Till next time, keep writing!
